How to do a surface 180:

Trick Name: Surface 180
Description: Board changes direction (back-front/front-back)
Tip on performing this trick: Surface 180's are a fun trick to learn as you become familiar with riding your board- left foot forward rotate to the left, righties rotate to the right. Try to place your weight over the center of the board. In one smooth motion, swing the board around leading with your rear foot. Once you are in the 180 position, place more weight on the tip to allow the board to track for stability and keep the handle at your hip to help stabilize your upper body. To get back around, do the same thing from back to front.

Getting Up on a Wakeskate:

One of the first tasks of enjoying the great sport of wake skating is learning how to get up. This is similar to getting up on a wakeboard and will be very easy if you already know how to get up on a wakeboard. In this instructional, we will explain two different methods of getting up on a wakeskate. The reason for two methods is to show different ways that may be more comfortable for all levels of riders. Either method can be used by riders of all skill levels.

Method One - Board On Water
Getting up using the board on water method enables you to lay back on the water and relax while the boat driver gets the boat situated before getting under way. It may seem awkward when reading this instructional, but once on the water, you will find that it is very simple and relaxing.

When preparing to get up, lay the board in the water perpendicular to the boat with the grip side up. Lay flat on your back perpendicular to the board and place your heels on the top of the board. Keep the rope in both hands around your belly button. At this point, have the boat driver put the boat in gear giving a little tension on the rope. This will help you stay balanced over the board as you will have something to hold on to. When the driver starts to give the boat a little more throttle, the board will turn up to the bottom of your feet. After the board lines up to your feet, relax and bend your knees allowing your bottom side to meet with your heels. Keep the rope out in front of your knees. Once in this position, you are almost up. You should be squatted with your rear-end touching your heels and the rope out in front of your knees. Now you should slowly stand up and apply the most pressure to the foot that will be in the back. You may also find it easier to let go with your back hand in order to get your body in the correct riding position

Method Two - Board Under Water
The board under water method is used more by riders that are experience wakeskaters or wakeboarders and requires a more balance while you are waiting for the boat to get situated. You basically will stand on your board, but the board will be submerged under the water.

When preparing to get up, push your board under the water and stand on it with your feet in the normal riding position. You will be standing perpendicular to the boat. As the boat gets under way, start to bend your knees a little and lean back against the rope to resist the pull of the boat. Be sure to keep your weight over the top of your board. You will begin to rise out of the water. Keep a slight bend in your knees just let the boat pull you all the way up and on top of the water. Once you are completely on top of the water, you may still be perpendicular to the boat. Start applying more pressure to the foot that will be in the back and you can even let go with your back hand to turn sideways.
