Xtreme Life
"Extreme" has become the latest catch phrase. You find the word extreme describing everything from sports to cooking. Everything and everyone is trying or wants to be extreme. It is the name of this web site for that very reason. We want to express that living extreme does not just mean dialing in some crazy tricks on a wakeboard, or hitting a sick run on your skateboard, it is also how we need to look at our lives as Christians. It seems like in our Christian lives we opt for the more comfortable than the extreme. God has given us numerous examples in the Bible of people that have stood in the gap for Him and have lived to the max. Noah, for one example, and we all know his story about the ark and the animals. People had to think he was crazy, they had never seen rain before. Noah did as God asked even though the world viewed him as being a complete idiot and he was rewarded with life for him and his family. Paul is another example of living to the extreme for God. He used the gift of preaching that God gave him and stood in the face of persecution and even death to get the word of Jesus Christ out to the world, wow what a great man. These were just two of many that God asked to step out regardless of consequence and give their lives to him fully and He gave them an exciting fulfilling ride that could not have been created any other way.
I believe that God has an amazing plan for us; we just have to be willing and ready to embrace it. Ephesians 1:18 Paul expresses God's desire for us in his letter the he wrote from prison "I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints and His incomparably great power for us who believe." I know that it will not be the most comfortable or easiest and as humans we will make mistakes just like the men I mentioned before, but God will reward you and take care of you. 2 Timothy 1:7 says "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self discipline." Instead of watching that extra hour of extreme gardening on TV sit down and open your Bible and read God's word and develop the spirit of power, love, and self discipline. In order to live on the edge for God you must know God in a deep personal way. You must spend time with Him and in His word daily to understand His will for your life.
~ God I pray that You will be with us today and give us wisdom. We want to live the adventures that You have for us. Thank You for the awesome power of the Holy Spirit. Energize us today, for Your glory. Amen |
